Langtang lies to the north of Kathmandu near the Tibetan border. The Langtang valley is also called “The Valley of Glaciers”. The region is sandwiched between the main Himalayan range to the north and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the south. Langtang Lirung (7246 metres) dominates the valley to the north; Gang Chhenpo (6388m) and Naya Kangri (5846m) lie to the south; and Dorje Lakpa (6966 metres) protects the east end of the valley & Ganjala Pass(5160m). There are also high mountains of solid ice.

A visit to Langtang valley offers an opportunity to explore villages, to climb small peaks and to visit glaciers at a comfortably low elevation. Participants will also get a chance to experience Tibetan culture through Tibetans settlements along the trek. The area was designated Nepal’s first Himalayan National Park in 1971 & is rich in its age-old religious practices, language dominated by Tibetan culture. The Langtang region is the third most popular trekking region of Nepal.

This trek is considered medium difficulty with a maximum altitude of 4350m.

All proceeds of YMCA Outdoor and Adventure trips goes to support the charitable works of YMCA of Singapore.
